Tesla Would Fail: Charlie Munger to Elon Musk in 2009

Replying to a tweet about Charlie Munger's views on cryptocurrency, Elon Musk recalled a 2009 lunch where Munger, vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, explained why Tesla would fail.

Musk said he agreed with most of the reasons and told Munger that Tesla would probably die, but that it was worth trying anyway. Tesla later reported a record profit of $5.5 billion for 2021.

Munger, then 98, had described crypto as "beneath contempt" and said he was proud to have avoided it.
